Charmette

Away off back on de mountain-side,…
W'ere de lake is long an'wide,
A nice leetle place I got,…
I chrissen dat place Charmette.
- William Henry Drummond, 1905

In the early 1900's, the Jones family built a summer home in Duluth, Minnesota on what had originally been a logging site. The materials used for the house came directly from the land. The Loken family now resides in Charmette. In the 1990's, David Salmela incorporated modern architecture to the original structures. Past residents of Charmette often return to see the house, bringing pieces of Charmette's history with them.
